For my design course, I embarked on an exciting project called “Reflect,” where we had the option to either choose an existing brand or create our own and take it through the entire branding process. I decided to create a sunglasses brand named Reflect, drawing inspiration from the concept of reflective sunglasses.
My vision for the branding was to keep it minimalistic and beautiful.
For the logo, I opted for a simple font and mirrored the text to create a reflective effect. The primary brand color I chose was a blue gradient, which evokes feelings of calmness and relaxation, perfectly aligning with the essence of the sunglasses brand. To enhance the vibe, I incorporated a wavy illustration.
As part of the project, I designed various commercial products and branding materials, including stationery, a magazine, a newspaper ad, an advertising banner, a sunglasses case, and a shopping bag.
Challenges:
This project was challenging as I was just learning how to design. Creating unique ideas to make the brand stand out in a competitive market was no easy task. I pushed myself to bring these ideas to life, striving to make the brand distinctive and memorable in its field. This project tested my creativity and determination, significantly contributing to my growth as a designer.
Solutions:
To tackle these challenges, I researched competitors and inspiration. One idea was to make shopping bags unique with hand-holding holes shaped like sunglasses. Another was to create an advertising banner that showcased a brand app for trying on sunglasses with camera filters, offering a fun, in-store shopping experience from home.
